In his most recent role, he established a biologics franchise, drove global, profitable growth, enhanced market position, established and managed a product portfolio and developed key surgeon relationships. This individual’s efforts contributed to 26% franchise growth, generating $40M in revenues, improved gross margins by 27%.
Jan Deaton – Market Research
A creative, strategic medical device market research executive and founder of Deaton Consulting, LLC Jan has over 20 years experience with the orthopedic industry’s leading firms, Zimmer and DePuy. Jan’s most recent position was Director, Market Research – DePuy Orthopedics, where she played a pivotal role in the Worldwide Strategic Leadership Initiative. Jan’s dedication to “Voice of Customer” improvements lead to improvements in packaging, sales force communications and investor relations reporting. While at DePuy, Jan was part of the IPO team. In support of J&J Investor Relations, she was responsible for analyzing worldwide markets and emerging niche markets. Jan has a BS/MS in Mathematics from Purdue U.
Deaton Consulting, LLC was formed in 2010. Customers Include: Mendenhall Associates Inc., Wells Fargo, BiomedGPS, OrthoWorx, and Cardinal Health Systems.
Business Development Team
One of our team members has spent 35 years in the medical device business, with over 30 years in orthopedics. He has held various senior level positions including functional Vice President and President roles with two of the orthopedic industry’s top firms. He has had responsibility in adult reconstruction, trauma, sports medicine, biologics and spine. He also served as the President/CEO of a start-up orthopaedic bio-tech/device company, where he successfully raised in excess of $13m in funding. This company was sold to a major orthopaedic medical device company for a large multiple of sales. As part of this initiative, he also executed two corporate alliance research and development deals as well as a multimillion, dollar marketing agreement with a leading sports medicine company.
Another team member possesses experience in navigating deals through the Johnson & Johnson process with two deals totaling in excess of $1.2B up through the Executive Committee of J & J. This person is also skilled at all phases of M & A including: valuations, public and private companies, domestic and international companies, licensing deals, WW due diligence, and company integration plans and execution.
Reimbursement & Health Economics- Harry Kotlarz
Harry Kotlarz is a 20-year veteran in the areas of health economics, outcomes research and reimbursement for medical devices. Harry specializes in marketing and reimbursement strategies that create a compelling clinical and economic value proposition for breakthrough technologies that also include VC and start-up opportunities. Before joining the Global Orthopedic Network, he was a Director of Health Economics & Reimbursement at Johnson and Johnson, Inc for 9 years, where he developed strategies for overcoming reimbursement and economic barriers to market adoption of orthopedic implants and procedures and bariatric surgery. Harry is experienced in addressing payer demands, opportunities, and barriers. Previously, he was employed by Medtronic in a similar capacity focused on the surgical treatment for coronary artery disease, stroke and atrial fibrillation.
At the GO Network, Harry is charged with developing robust market access strategies that leverage the newest health policy strategies to meet clients’ business objectives and optimize provider adoption, patient access, and payment for novel medical devices. He has negotiated directly with CMS and commercial payers to expand coverage and secure reimbursement for clients’ technologies; and works closely with medical and specialty societies to build consensus about innovative products and for support with payers.
Harry received his MBA from Xavier University in Cincinnati.
